Shear Flow Control Laboratory

Welcome to the Shear Flow Control Lab (SFCL) within the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Minnesota.  We focus on experimental studies to advance our understanding of a wide range of shear flows, and in the process, develop control strategies to solve applied fluid dynamics problems.  Areas include two-phase flows and atomization, variable density shear flows, subsonic and supersonic jets, two and three-dimensional wake flows, wall-bounded flows, thrust vectoring and combustion applications.  Enhanced shear rates along with other passive control mechanisms are leveraged in these various applications.
